Blog Thoughts: Bitten by the Vampire Genre

Vampires

I’ve never imagined where my writing could lead me. If I had, I never would have imagined it would venture into the realm of vampires. Let me make sure I mention, I don’t think anything is wrong with the genre. The only experience I have with it is Twilight. I know, it isn’t the crème de la crème of the genre, but that doesn’t change that it is my only exposure (By the way, I did enjoy reading the series. It was the reason I began writing actually). With that being said, my limited exposure could help me write something original without influence, or it could be a rookie mistake. Regardless, I’ve already written two short stories and I’m currently working on a third. My plan is to compile thirty + stories and publish them as a book. It will be an undertaking for me as I am still writing book three of my Shadow Series, however writing a 1,500 word story can happen in a matter of an hour or two for me. It is manageable and exciting to explore a new world within my mind. My plan is to write and post the first 10 stories to the site. Once I feel I’ve written as much as I need in order to complete the book, I will publish it. The plan isn’t very detailed as it may change. Who knows, I may just post them all and then remove them once the book is ready. We shall see how it goes. Vamp books are very popular, especially as a series. Though I could expand each story into a full book, currently I don’t have the desire to do so. I’m raising my glass to the journey. Here’s to you all following me along the way.
