Blog-mas #3

Tree decorating is an event. The excitement and fun of it all is only obtained by how open you are to having fun with it. Be over the top and be goofy. Embrace the ridiculousness and enjoy it for what it is. As you can tell, I am all about the holidays (if you’ve read my other posts it’s pretty clear and sick to some), however my husband had never been much into it. A lot of things that excite me I have to convince him to give it a try with an open mind. It can be a tall feat, but when he does make it to the top, he enjoys it more than he likes to admit. Christmas is one of those things. Now that I got him into it (not as much as myself, but as he would say, “we all can’t be winners”), he likes to decorate a little and he came to me about decorating the artificial tree. We have 2 cats and trees have a had time standing upright in our home. Despite that, he wants to put it up anyway, he also isn’t the one putting it back up when it falls down most of the time. I am the one who stays home after all. To make the event special in our home it requires a few things:

  • Christmas music/carols blaring on the speakers (not too loud because we live in a townhome).
  • Dancing to the music
  • Singing loudly and pretending we sound better than the artists
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Laughter

Enjoy and explore the ways you can make this holiday special, even if you aren’t a big fan of the gift giving. That’s what many make the holidays about, but that doesn’t mean you have to. It sucks that some people only appear kind this time of year. I can acknowledge that. Regardless, I accept it for what it is and enjoy the month of kindness.
