In the next two weeks I will be publishing my first poetry book. I’ve been writing poetry since I was in grade school. It’s been my therapy, it’s been my happy place, it’s been a game between me and my childhood friend. I’ve taken my favorite poems over the past five years and compiled them into a collection, telling a story that I believe will be relatable.
What will you find within the book?
My voice in poetry focuses on emotion, whether it’s joy, sorrow, love, or frustration. I write from different points of views (i.e. woman, man, young, old, LGBT+ etc.) and it is and exaggerated from my own experiences and thoughts to create stories in the form of poetry for every type of voice. The title of the book is Memoirs of Despair and the Smiles That Hide Them. This collection houses silly gossip, searching for and losing love, and the rode to self-love through the lens of and mimicking the ups and downs of depression. I want to take my readers on a journey that will make them laugh, cry, and reminisce on love, family, and childhood.
What date will it be available for purchase?
My goal for the release date is August 14th 2020 on Amazon for print or ebook. Should the date change for any reason, I’ll be sure to post an update.
Do you have any other books?
I have completed two book in a Saga and am currently working on the third, more details about when the first will be released soon. I will also publish within the next year a book of short stories.
A sneak peak about the first book of my saga:
Since the loss of her father, Sioné accepted life as something to suffer through. Around the time of meeting an unknown relative, dreams of a place beyond, disembodied voices and shadows began to haunt her everywhere she went. Amongst the chaos surrounding her, Noah enters her life, but it’s unclear if his timely entrance is too good to be true. On a quest for clarity, Sioné learns about her family lineage and the demonic bounty on her life. Teetering between reality and insanity, questions start to surface regarding her father’s demise.
I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your day. Leave a comment!
